At the ninth iteration of WHACK, the Wellesley College hackathon, students from colleges throughout the world will come together for 24 hours to turn their ideas into reality.

Whether you’re a seasoned developer or designer, or just starting out as a beginner, there’s something at WHACK for you.

You’ll enjoy a weekend of awesome tech, swag, workshops, and mini-events while learning from distinguished speakers, inspiring mentors, and peers. We consider WHACK a success if you make new connections and gain skills that will stay with you long after WHACK is over.

Prizes

4 non-cash prizes
Best Beginner
1 winner

Best project submitted where three (or more) team members are beginners (A beginner is defined as someone who is participating in their first hackathon!) Note: The cash prize is tbd as winners will have a choice.

Best Hack for Social Good: Current Issues
1 winner

Our WHACK theme every year is social good. This year we're focusing on current issues and we're leaving it up to hackers to decide what kinds of relevant issues they would like to tackle.

Hacker's Choice
1 winner

The most voted project on DevPost! Public voting will begin after hacking hours end on Sunday.

Best Technical Hack
1 winner

This is the best hack that includes a technical component. The other hacks do not require a technical piece, just an idea at the bare minimum, so this prize category will be for those with more experience/more of a desire to get down and dirty with technical skills.
